The formula to figure out how many chains to make is to Make 10 chains for each beginning square add 1 chain for each square (for the chain that joins the squares together. ) Minus 1 chain. (There is one less join than there is squares. ) Example: 3 starting squares: 3 x 10= 30. 30 +3 =33. 33-1=32. so chain 32 for a center of 3 squares. “Can you make bigger squares?” has been asked several times, so here is the answer to that question: “…you could make it twice the size and do 20 chains for each square. … you just need an even number that is a multiple of 5. Don’t forget to add the chains that go between the squares. …Bigger squares would mean you could cross-stitch onto them too!
